Center Parcs restaurant design and visualisation

Center Parcs wanted to introduce a new restaurant in to all of their venues across the UK. The restaurant, "Dining In", would serve as a take-away but additionally provide some indoor and outdoor seating for waiting customers. My job was to help design the interior and exterior of the restaurant and provide high quality visuals. These visuals would be used to show the proposed design to Center Parcs welcoming feedback. It was an iterative process. I also had the task of providing the architects with accurate AutoCad plans to assist them in the final design that would be given to the builders.

Due to the fluid nature of the design process, I was constantly making design decisions during the modeling phase and the challenge was to model quickly and accuratgely yet still allowing for changes to be made. I designed the bespoke sofa and bar and a number of other features. I modeled the restaurant and furniture in Solidworks and 3DS Max and rendered in 3DS MAx using Vray.

Science Museum shop visualisation

I was asked to help with the interior design of a temporary shop in The Science Museum, London, and create 3D visuals to assist in the design process and use as a way of communicating ideas to the client. The temporary shop was to run along side the exhibition "The Science Of...". I used 3D Studio Max to render the shots. The first set of visuals I produced were very early on in the design process. Stage 2 included some obvious changes. These images were all that were needed to communicate the idea and (unfortunately) no further detail was needed in the renderings. The final design consisted of mirrored partition walls covered in graphics. The shop merchandice would be displayed on 4 "gondolas" that would with illuminated end panels.

National Amusements' Showcase Cinema

Inspired Gaming Group

National Amuesments (MTV, Nickelodeon, Showcase Cinemas etc) approached Inspired Gaming Group to see if we could increase footfall and dwell time in the foyer of one of their flagship cinemas in Bluewater shopping center. I modelled, animated and produced a 3D flythrough of the cinema foyer showing how this might be achieved. The first stage involved planning the layout of the area and locating INGG terminals around the vast space. We divided the area up in to distinct zones: Nickelodeon zone for children, MTV zone for music lovers, Premiere Lounge for priviliged customers and a competition zone for those wanting to to try their luck at winning great prizes. I then produced a storyboard for the film, planning the shots that would be shown in the animation and the path of the camera. The next stage was to create the animation.

Exhibition desgin

Inspired Gaming Group

I have co-managed and designed several exhibitions during my time. Most noteably at Inspired Gaming Group. My involvment on each exhibition would include project management, stand layout, design, visualization and build, AV set up, furniture design and the sourcing of materials and suppliers including new technologies and equipment to make the stands unique and exciting. Such technologies included interactive fogscreens (where you can project video on to both sides of a continuously flowing curtain of fog from above which you can walk through as well as interact with using a laser touch interface), electronic smart glass (where the glass can change from transparent to completely opaque at the touch of a button), fluoroinert liquid (which is a unique, clear, inert liquid which does not conduct electricity and can be used to completely submerge and display working electronic equipment - amongst other uses) and state of the art lighting set ups. With tight budgets and timescales the projects involved a lot of commitment and organization.

Demo room interior design

Inspired Gaming Group

I was responsible for the interior design and overall project management for a new demonstration room that was to be built at the London offices of Inspired Gaming Group. The initial brief was to make a room that looked modern, clean and would show off the company's latest gaming terminals. I carried out research to find designer lighting, flooring, wall coverings, furniture and equipment and put together three concepts to suit a range of budgets. The senior management then selected the style that fitted well with their budget. I then sourced the materials and furniture and managed the build. The overall look of the room is bright, clean and modern.

Gravesend Heritage Quarter

Leslie Jones Architects

I worked for Leslie Jones Architects as a freelance visualizer and spent 2 weeks translating complex 2D Cad files of Gravesend Heritage Quarter in to a Sketchup model. The area that I modelled included both the regeneration plans of the area and the surrounding buildings and also the complex topography. The model that I built was then used to generate accurate site line images and to allow the architects to show to the client the plans by means of a walk through. The images below are basic renderings from Sketchup that show specific views that Leslie Jones wanted, mostly views of the tower from different positions, but I will also be generating much higher quality Vray renderings from the model. I completed the project within the allocated time and to a higher level of detail than was expected.
